Using HIFIS During Extreme Weather Events
Climate change makes extreme weather events more frequent and more severe. People experiencing homelessness are disproportionately affected by extreme weather, and the homelessness-serving system is impacted by increased pressure on its resources and services during these events. HIFIS has several features that enable communities to communicate with staff and track service delivery during extreme weather events, and the data collected in HIFIS can also be used to both inform and improve your community’s extreme weather response plan. This guide provides an overview of these features as well as suggestions on how to use them to support people experiencing homelessness during severe weather.
